The self assessment strategy is a process of considering various dimensions of wellness, rating one's level of current fulfillment for these areas. Once the overall ratings are indicated, one writes down their observations relating to the different dimensions. For example, they may observe that they rated environmental wellness at a 2 out of 10 because their house mates routinely leave dirty dishes. Observations can also indicate what is working well.
Observe what's working well and not so well. What are the fundamental factors or blocks? Can lower performing areas be augmented by stronger areas?
For example, one might rate creative wellness at an 8 out of 10, observing that they are doing an occupation that they enjoy that brings them satisfaction. Once the observations are made, then one sets any desired goals. An example goal could be to increase the environmental wellness rating from a 2 to a 5 out of 10 within two months. Once this goal is established, one can begin conceptualizing tasks that would lend to the accomplishment of the desired goal.
When setting these goals and tasks, it is also worthy to consider synergy. For example, if one rates creative wellness high and social wellness low, they may want to consider how they can use their high rankings in creative wellness to boost their social wellness. Alternatively, they may meet two needs simultaneously. For example, joining a running club could improve both physical wellness and social wellness.
Once personal action steps are created, then one can begin to conceptualize how they can enlist others to supporting them in accomplishing the desired goals. Support can range any where from just having someone to discuss your plan with, to someone who will partner with you in accomplishing the required tasks.
The next step is implementing the plan and coordinating the plan with others. It is important to note that completing the assessment is only part of the wellness planning process. Discussing that plan with others becomes an integral part of cultivating ease in one's wellness growth. By sharing one's ideas, greater cohesion and understanding comes forward. Additionally, talking with others about them provides an opportunity for clarity and collaboration. This creates synergy that greatly empowers self actualization. The self assessment becomes a tool for discussing what you notice with members of your community for support and authenticity. Sharing our experience and intentions with others provides an opportunity to achieve greater clarity in intention and posture. It is critical to understand that the self assessment is only the first step in many on the path of self actualization.
For thousands of years, human beings have been studying human health, wellness and ultimate consciousness. More recently Maslow's Hierarchy of needs began a new conversation of Self Actualization towards human empowerment. Maslow found that this process lead to Peak Experiences, experiences of awe, unification and integration. Whole Being Health provides a framework for discussion regarding purity of presence and personal radiance through cultivation of life force energy.
